The Logistics Specialist will perform a range of functions in support of global transportation facilitation and trade compliance to meet internal and external customer requirements. This role will build the infrastructure and conduct improvements in the operations of logistical activities.  The Logistics Specialist will provide visibility and oversight through leading and implementing key projects that improve tools, processes, productivity, and compliance in a global environment.
Must be able to work under minimal direct supervision and be willing to take initiative to resolve problems and to revise and upgrade processes.  In addition to routine duties, must be highly capable to lead projects to collaboratively develop, improve, and communicate processes for scalable excellence in a rapidly growing high tech firm.
Role reports to: Global Logistics Manager 

  1. Ensure alignment between internal constituents and delivery providers.
  2. Maintain and develop relationships with current, new and potential service providers 
  3. Resolve road blocks to ensure timely shipments and deliveries are made to expectation of internal and external customers’ requirements. Monitor shipments in transit, and drive resolution of shipments in exception status.
  4. Lead efforts to build and improve systems that provide in-transit visibility
  5. Implement and manage KPI’s.  Publish scorecards and metrics on weekly basis.  Conduct robust QBR’s.
  6. Drive data analysis and business case development for key projects 
  7. Work cross-functionally with sales, customer support, operations, supply chain and finance to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  8. Build and manage transportation Routings.
  9. Provide constructive inputs into packaging design.
  10. Drive freight claim recovery.
  11. Drive VAT/GST mitigation processes in conjunction with finance.
  12. Document procedures and improve processes with 3rd party providers for best practice logistics programs.
  13. Auditing and oversight of provider’s data and records for accuracy, quality, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.  Drive improvements. 
  14. Oversight of AES records.
  15. Stay abreast of changes and updates in customs laws and regulations
  16. Manage temporary importation instruments including Carnets and temporary import bonds.
  17. Implement and maintain databases, documents, and reference files associated with fulfillment and import/export activities
  18. Identify and drive change initiatives that will enable logistics to reach a world-class level of operations 
  19. Support internal shipping and receiving activities including at newly created offices globally.
  20. Support freight bill audit, recovery, and payment efforts leading to an outsourced program.
1. Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering.

  1. Minimum 7 years of experience working in logistics, transportation management or supply chain management in a capital equipment industry.
  2. Experienced in the movement of goods intra-region including intra-Europe and intra-Asia regions. Experience in establishing and oversight of freight payment operations.
  1. Understanding of ERP Systems relative to Logistics.  Experience with ERP system implementation a plus. 
  2. Proven business/financial acumen, including demonstrated ability to motivate, influence, solve complex problems, and drive change at all levels of the organization. 
  3. Experience with trade compliance topics including working knowledge and ability to use U.S. government classification systems (HTSUS, Schedule B, ECCNs).
  4. Working knowledge of IncoTerms, carnets, temporary import bonds, and letter’s of credit, VAT/GST mitigations.
  5. Ability to logically and systematically work through transit/customs events and conduct forensics working back from shipment documentation and field communications to resolve problems.
  6. Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced and evolving environment.
  7. Recognized certification in logistics preferred.

  1. Working knowledge of Advanced Excel, MS Access.
  2. Keen awareness of GST/VAT and impact on total delivery cost.
